Background Checks

Valid BCI (Ohio) and FBI (National) background/fingerprint check results are a condition of employment with the District, pursuant to House Bill 79 (effective March 29, 2007) and House Bill 190 (effective November 19, 2007). Background check results must  be dated within the last 365 days of your official start date to be considered valid.

You will need to tell the background check facility that an electronic copy must be submitted to the Ohio Department of Education AND a paper copy sent to Olentangy Schools:

Please note, if copies are not sent to both places you will be required to redo the background check process at your expense.

scheduling your background check

You may have your background check completed at any location that can do BCI/FBI fingerprint background checks. The information below is provided for your convenience.

ESCCO 

The ESCCO North Office is now located at the Olentangy Administrative Offices, located at 7840 Graphics Way, Lewis Center, OH (740-657-5060). Appointments can also be made at the ESCCO Columbus location, at 2080 Citygate Drive, Columbus, OH (614-445-3750). Sign up online to have your prints completed at either location: ESSCO Background Checks and Fingerprinting Services.

1. If you would like to have your background check done at the Olentangy Administrative Offices, you should choose North Office. Please note that the ESCCO fingerprinting representative is here on Tuesdays and Thursdays and from 8:15 am - 3:30 pm. If you need to schedule your appointment sooner, you can choose the Central Office. This location is open five days a week 8:15 am -3:30 pm. The address is 2080 Citygate Drive, Columbus, OH 43219.  
2. Next, choose FBI only if you are doing your 5-year renewal and have not had a break in your employment. Otherwise, choose BCI and FBI. 
3. From there, you will choose the available date and time that will work for you. 
4. For the last step, you will be asked to enter your name, phone number, and email. 

* You should receive a text alert and email confirming your appointment. On the day of your appointment, you will receive a text reminder and an additional text notifying you of when to enter the building.

Read all guidelines before arriving to your appointment. The current cost for the BCI background check is $30; the cost for the FBI background check is $28. If you require both background checks, the total costs will be $58 (prices are subject to change). Acceptable forms of payment include Discover, MasterCard, Visa, or debit card (no American Express).
