Superintendent Message For March 23, 2018

Dear Olentangy Families,

It is difficult to believe we have roughly three-fourths of this school year under our belt already and our thoughts are turning toward end-of-year activities and graduation.

This school year has admittedly not been an easy one for many of us. Difficult topics such as bullying, mental health, suicide, school safety, racism, non-inclusive behavior, redistricting transitions, and the right for students to express themselves in national protests have all been at the forefront of countless conversations and actions over the past months. Each of these topics are critically important and highly complex. Please know that I am working day in and day out with our Board of Education, our leadership team and our staff to examine these issues and find ways to do better. I am proud and humbled to work with a staff and community that cares so deeply for our students and children and strives to do what is best in all cases for all students. We will continue to team together as staff, parents, community members and students to tackle these tough issues and make a positive difference for all students as we keep our mission to facilitate maximum learning for every student at the forefront.

I encourage all of us to take a deep breath during our spring break next week, and return refreshed in April to finish the year strong. We have much to be proud of and celebrate this year and I look forward to continuing to work together to do better, to celebrate our successes and to live our mission.

Proud to serve as your Superintendent,

Mark T. Raiff
