ACT – Blended Learning Day
Wednesday, February 26 all juniors will be taking the ACT test. The only students who will report to school on Wednesday, February 26, will be the junior class. All other students will participate in blended learning opportunities outside of the classroom for optimum learning on February 26.  For more information about February 26 

Post-Secondary Planning Night
Please join the Olentangy high school counselors for a Post-Secondary Planning night on March 5, 2020, at the Delaware Area Career Center. Doors open at 6:00 P.M. and the first session begins at 6:30 P.M.  Here is a link for more information about the presentations and session times.

Frontier
The January/February issue of the Frontier is here. This month's issue features stories about the Black History Month assembly, the district levy, and scheduling for next year. Improv Club at OOHS
The Improv Club is focused on learning how to do improvisation, such as what you have seen on the show "Whose Line is it Anyway?". It is open to ALL! You do not have to be funny or know anything about improv, just be willing to learn. Yearbook Senior Ads
Senior parents - Celebrate your child's graduation by purchasing a senior ad in the 2020 yearbook. The senior ad order form and size sheet are available on the school's website. All senior ads can be purchased on yearbookforever.com.  You can purchase the senior ad, upload the necessary message/photos and purchase your senior's yearbook all in the same transaction. This form provides instructions. We will honor ads on a first come, first serve basis until space is filled.  The deadline for submission is Wednesday, March 4.

MCore Coming to OOHS
The MCORE Foundation is providing Cardiac Screening Opportunity for Olentangy Orange High School on April 24, 2020 from 8am-4pm.  The cost is $79.  See the attached flyer for more information.  Begin scheduling today.

No School
Students do not have school on Friday, February 14 because it is a Professional Development Day for teachers or on Monday, February, 17 in recognition of President’s Day.  Enjoy the long weekend.

Class of 2021
Ohio law mandates that all senior students have two doses of meningococcal immunization prior to entering 12th grade, unless parent or doctor would like to exempt the student from the vaccine. If the first dose was given on or after the student’s 16th birthday, the second dose is not required for his/her senior year.  Students who have already had the meningococcal immunizations should turn their immunization record into their school clinic now. For more information click here. 


Boys Tennis
There will be a mandatory meeting Wednesday, February 19 after school at 2:45 in room 1206 for boys interested in playing tennis this Spring. See Coach Rutherford with any questions. 

Junior Cabinet Fundraiser
On Wednesday, February 19th, the Junior Class is having a fundraiser at the Chipotle on 23 from 5-9pm.  Show this flyer when you order and 33% of the proceeds will go towards the club.  Make dinner a selfless act – Eat Burritos!

Girls Soccer
Attention girls soccer players who are interested in playing HS soccer this fall at Orange HS. Please attend the player/parent information meeting in the Orange HS Library on Wednesday, March 18 @ 7pm. The meeting will last about 30 minutes.  Soccer Website

Parent Teacher Conferences

Scheduling for Juniors
It is imperative that Juniors enter their 2020-2021 course requests in PowerSchool prior to meeting with their counselor next week.  The instructions on how to do this are in the Schoology course, Class of 2021,  scheduling folder.

Senior Video
Each year, as part of the Orange High School senior tradition, the members of the Senior Class Cabinet create a Senior Slideshow to honor all the memories made together along the way.  The goal is to include every member of the senior class in the video.  We need the parents help with submitting photos for the video.  For more information click HERE.  Pictures are due Feb. 7.  


Ozone Robotics Fundraiser
On Monday, February 10th, Ozone Robotics is having a fundraiser at the Chipotle on 23 from 4-8pm.  Show this flyer when you order and 33% of the proceeds will go towards the club.  DO GOOD with BURRITOS!

Post-Secondary Planning Night
The guidance counselors of OLSD are presenting the many options available to students upon graduation.  In addition there will be presentations on how students can maximize their time while in high school to better prepare them for their next step.  See the flyer for more information. 

Spring Musical
Sign-ups are now available for tech crew for the spring musical, The Addams Family. Crew areas include set, props, light, sound, make-up and hair, costumes, and publicity. Applications are on the Theatre Call board near the bus loop doors, sign-up on Sign-up Genius (link on the theatre schoology group page), and attend the meeting on Monday, February 10 from 2:45-3:30 in Ms. Swain-Abrams's room, room 1413. This is going to be a fun show and we will start working next week. Any questions? Talk to a theatre student or Ms. Swain-Abrams. 

DACC Information Sessions
Parents of 6-9th graders: Attend an upcoming session to learn more about the "super electives" your kids can take later in high school via the Delaware Area Career Center. Zoo school, engineering, nursing, bioscience, app development, digital design and more! FIVE session options starting 2/23. OOAB Scholarship
Each spring, the Olentangy Orange Athletic Boosters (OOAB) award up to eight - one time scholarships for senior varsity athletes (with an equal split between female and male athletes).  The application deadline is February 14.  Just a reminder the 14th is a non-school day so students should plan accordingly to get this turned in on time.

Blood Drive
The National Honor Society sponsored a blood drive today.  They were successful in collecting 45 units.  Each unit could save up to three lives.  Thank you to all the students, parents and staff who donated.

Active Minds
The next Active Minds meeting will be held on Tuesday February 4th in room 1101 right after school.  Active Minds is a student initiative to raise awareness about mental health at OOHS.  Students can join conversations about how to help themselves or help a friend.

Boys Lacrosse
Students interested in playing boys lacrosse this spring should attend the player/parent meeting on 1/27 at 7:30 pm in the OOHS auditorium. We will go over important information regarding the upcoming season, and ensure that everyone is on the current mailing list.

Yearbook Staff Wins State Award
Congratulations to the yearbook staff members for their accomplishment in the Ohio Scholastic Media Association's state competition. Yesterday, Orange had 25 students compete at the DECA District 7 competition.  Orange had  12 students advance to compete at the Ohio DECA Career Development Conference in March.

Journalism Department at OOHS
Calling all writers, photographers, page designers and video producers – Orange High School’s journalism program needs you! If you are interested in the above careers and want to learn more about magazine writing, yearbook design or T.V. news, then maybe a journalism class is for you. Sign up to take Introduction to Journalism when you register for classes next year. If you take Intro, you are eligible to take Web Journalism, Yearbook, Broadcast or The Courier.

Report Cards
Second Quarter grade cards are now available through PowerSchool. 

Scheduling 2020-2021
Counselors will be presenting academic advising and scheduling information to all students from Jan. 14-16.  Students will then have time to consult with parents and teachers for next year's course selections.  Students should enter course requests through their PowerSchool portal and fill out their course request cards.  Counselors will then have individual student meetings to advise and confirm their selections during the following dates:  
Orange MS:  Jan. 28
Berkshire MS: Jan. 30
Freshmen: Jan. 24, 27, 31
Sophomores: Feb. 3, 4, 6
Juniors: Feb. 10, 11, 12

ROTC Program
Students have an opportunity to be a part of the AFJROTC program.  This is an elective class taught at Delaware Hayes High School. Bus transportation is provided.  See the attached flyer and contact your counselor with any questions.

Winter Baseball Camp Grades K-8
Olentangy Orange Baseball will be offering a Winter Baseball Camp at the end of January. The camp will take place on three consecutive Saturdays. Registration can be completed at www.iscorebaseball.com/oohs OR you can fill out the attached flyer and mail it in. We are taking registrations until January 15.

Marching Band Parent Mtg.
We're going to Hollywood!  The Orange High School Marching Band has been selected to participate in the 2020 Hollywood Christmas Parade.  A Parent Meeting is scheduled for Monday, January 13th at 7:30pm in the OOHS Theater.   Pricing, payments and itineraries will be discussed at this meeting. Band students please make sure your parents are aware of this meeting.  

Boys Volleyball Mtg.
For any boy interested in playing boys volleyball for Orange High School, there will be a meeting on Wednesday, January 15th at Orange High School in the Cafeteria at 6:45pm. Swim and Dive Team Fundraiser

The Swim and Dive Team will be having a fundraiser at Cane’s on Polaris Parkway on January 14th from 4-9pm.  Show them the attached flyer so that 15% of all sales will go to the team. 

YEARBOOK PRICE INCREASE DRAWING NEAR
Make sure you buy your 2019-20 yearbook to see how students are "Proud of our Passion" at Orange High School by Friday, Jan. 24 to avoid the price increasing by $5. Go to yearbookforever.com and search for Olentangy Orange High School in the top search bar.  If you have questions about ordering, contact Mrs. Phillips in room 2213. Seniors must select the "yearbook home delivery" to avoid having to come to the school next fall, after graduation, to pick theirs up. Seniors should also consider purchasing a senior ad on yearbookforever.com by Wednesday, March 4. Everything with the senior ad can be done at the same time the yearbook is purchased. Senior ads are honored on a first come, first serve basis. 

OOHS Hockey Fans
The Olentangy Orange H.S. Hockey Team invites you to see them take on Upper Arlington Saturday, January 11th and to come out and skate with the team immediately following the game! UA is currently ranked #2 in the State and we need our amazing Orange High School fan base to come out and cheer on our hockey team!  The game will be at 6pm and skating will be from 8-9pm.  Tickets are $5 students / $7 Adults. (includes hockey game ticket and ice skating).  Skate rental fee waived by OhioHealth Chiller North - skates will be made available as long as quantities / sizes last.

Spanish Club Raising money for Orphans
Spanish Club is sponsoring a service project to benefit orphans in Nicaragua.  Students can receive up  to 3 hours of service by donating small items to fit in a stocking.  Stockings with goodies will be delivered to orphans by representatives of a local church. Happy New Year!


Second Semester Schedules
Since students have access to their schedules through their PowerSchool account, the school will not be printing schedules for second semester.  Students are being asked to print a copy of their schedule over the weekend for use on the first day back from break.   Students will go directly to their 1st period class on Monday, January 6.  I

Report Cards

Senior Yearbook Portraits
Senior yearbook portraits will be taken during lunch periods in the commons on Friday, Jan. 10. This is your absolute last chance to have your portrait featured in the yearbook! The photographer will be set up in commons. Seniors must be in the proper attire, or the photo will not go in the yearbook.  More information including portrait dress code, can be found on the school website under the Class of 2020


Group Photo Day
Group photo day for the yearbook is Friday, Jan. 10. Teachers will have a schedule of where and when all the photos will take place posted in their rooms. You can also click here for the schedule. It is your responsibility to be in the right place at the right time. Make sure you wear the t-shirt for the club as well. All late arrival students will need to come to school at regular time if a club that they're involved in is getting pictured during first period.

PSAT Score Distribution 
Juniors and sophomores who took the PSAT can pick up their scores during lunch periods this Thursday and Friday, January 9th and 10th.

Spanish Club is sponsoring a service project to benefit orphans in Nicaragua.  All students can receive up to 3 hours of service by donating small items to fit in a stocking.  Stockings with goodies will be delivered to orphans by representatives of a local church. Olentangy Orange Drum Club
Olentangy Orange Drum Club will start in January.   Students in grades 6-12 wanting to improve on their drumming skills are encouraged to attend.  There is a winter session that goes from Jan-March and a spring session that goes from April to May. See the attached flyer for more information and how to register your student.

Olentangy Lifer Photo
Seniors, if you want to be featured in the Olentangy Lifer photo that is taken on group photo day on Friday, Jan 10, you need to identify yourself as a Lifer by signing the sheet of paper in the main office by Monday, Dec. 16. You are considered an "Olentangy Lifer" if you have gone to an Olentangy school since kindergarten.

Business Club is organizing a toy drive for TOYS FOR TOTS.  Toys can be dropped off in the main office through December 12th. They must be new, unwrapped toys & not resemble weapons (ie. no nerf, swords, light sabers, etc). Toys For Tots is supported by the Marine Corps, and all the toys go to families in need for the Holiday season.

State Testing
Olentangy Orange High School will be conducting OST Exams in December of 2019.  If your student needs to retake an exam they will be contacted by their counselor and be informed of the test and date.  These retakes will take place Dec 3-17.  If your student is taking the government OST they will be informed by their teacher.  These exams will take place Dec 12-13.  For more information click here

Spring Musical - The  Addams Family 
Auditions are on 12/17-19 and audition materials will be out after 12/3. All auditioning students are required to attend a dance clinic to learn the audition dance on Wed., 12/4 at 6pm in the band room, followed by a required parent and student meeting in the theatre at 7pm. Winter Play
The Advanced Performance Class presents, It's a Wonderful Life, a Live Radio Play, on Friday, December 6 and Saturday December 7 at 7:30pm in the Olentangy Orange High School Theatre and admission is only $5. This beloved American holiday classic comes to captivating life as a live 1940s radio broadcast. Friday Night Live
Friday Night Live is this weekend!  Friday and Saturday shows are sold out but tickets are still available for Sunday at 4pm.  Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for students.  This is a show you do not want to miss!

NHS Induction Ceremony
The National Honor Society induction ceremony will take place at 7pm in the auditorium on Monday, November 25th. Students should arrive before 6:45pm to take their place on stage. There is no specific dress code, but we encourage students to wear more formal attire and their NHS membership pin. Students who can attend a rehearsal during 12th Period on Monday will be able to practice for the ceremony.

ACT Online
Olentangy Orange will be offering the ACT online to the class of 2021 (current juniors) on Wednesday, February 26th, 2020. Please plan ahead as this is the only opportunity Orange will offer for the state-funded administration of the ACT. Information to prepare for the online ACT can be found here.

Math Tutoring
Math Tutoring is available for OOHS students in any Math class every Tuesday 2:45-3:45.  Tutoring will be staffed by OOHS Math teachers in room 1216.  There will not be tutoring on Tuesday, Nov. 26th, due to Thanksgiving break.

Olentangy Locals Schools is holding an informational meeting about the College Credit Plus Program. It is a mandatory meeting for parents of students who plan to participate in the 2020-21 school year. The event is the evening of December 10 from 7-8:30 PM at Olentangy High School.

Football
Tonight’s game starts playoffs for OOHS.  We are fortunate to be the host school, however, OLSD and OOHS season passes are not useable with playoff games. Tickets at the gate are $9.  Reserved seat pass holders can buy a ticket to the game and sit in their reserved seats.

Senior Video

Each year, as part of the Orange High School senior tradition, the members of the Senior Class Cabinet create a Senior Slideshow to honor all the memories made together along the way.  The goal is to include every member of the senior class in the video.  We need the parents help with submitting photos for the video.  For more information click HERE.  Pictures are due Feb. 7.

XC Competes at States
Best of luck to our Girls and Boys Cross Country teams as they compete in the State Championship on Saturday at National Trail Raceway in Hebron!  The girls team will run at 12:30 pm and the boys will run at 3:00pm.  Go Orange!

Regional Finals
Saturday will be a busy day for many of our teams that are moving forward!  Please come out and support our Pioneers!  Girls Soccer Regional Finals vs. Dublin Coffman at 12:00pm at Westerville Central HS and Girls Volleyball Regional Finals vs. DeSales at 2:00pm at Worthington Kilbourne HS. 

Senior Thanksgiving Fee Due Today
The annual Senior Thanksgiving will take place on Wednesday, November 20th.  The fee to attend is posted under fees in the parent portal of PowerSchool.  Payment is due by TODAY, November 1.

HOBY Leadership Seminar for Sophomores
HOBY is an exclusive leadership seminar for sophomores being held at Marietta College from June 11th, 2020 through June 14, 2020. HOBY is a non- profit organization founded by Hugh O’Brian that is dedicated to training and nurturing young leaders. Candids from HR Imaging
HR Imaging takes pictures at all our sporting events and special events like Homecoming, the fall play, orchestra and choir concerts.   Parents can purchase candids from HR Imaging by going to shop.hrimaging.com.  They offer wallets up to 8x10’s.

The district will test the student communication system on Oct. 31 by sending an automated phone and text alert to all high school students with cell phones between 6 and 8 p.m. that evening. It is important that students receive these messages, as they will include school closing, delays and text alerts from your school. You can ensure your student will receive the alerts by adding their cell phone number to the Emergency Medical Form in PowerSchool.

Blood Drive
Congratulations to our National Honor Society for another successful blood drive.  The blood drive generated over 35 units of blood.  Each unit equates to saving 3 lives!  Thank you to all the students and staff who donated.

The September/October issue of the Frontier is here. This month's issue features stories about the first 2 days of school, lockers and recycling at Orange and teacher work days. Homebase

Girls Basketball Tryouts
