ABOUT THE PRESENTATION
Join Dr. Kathy McFarland, former Olentangy Orange High School principal and current Chief Deputy Executive for the Ohio School Boards Association in a discussion on lessons from the schoolhouse, including the keys to student success. This is a free event. Childcare will be available at no cost.

"Drawing on my experiences as an educator and a mother, I will share with you what I have learned from students, what successful students do in and out of the classroom and how they are able to sustain their pursuit of success," McFarland said. "I will provide a set of practical strategies that you and your children can use to be more motivated, more persistent and more balanced at work and at school. We will take an exploration of the reality of success….passion, perseverance and grit. My goal is to use my experience and research to help children thrive."
ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Dr. McFarland is a mother, educator, leader – but above all – she is an advocate for kids. Her career exploits have always supported her passion to help kids realize their full potential. She received her undergraduate degree from North Carolina State University. She became a high school English teacher, obtained her administrator’s license, and served as a middle and high school principal for Olentangy Local Schools. She obtained a Doctorate in Educational Leadership and is currently the Chief Deputy Executive for the Ohio School Boards Association. Her greatest accomplishment are her three children - all graduates of Olentangy Local Schools.
