The district is committed to providing a safe and secure learning environment for all of our students. Each and every school in our district has a safety plan in place for a variety of emergencies and, to ensure that each school continually meets our security expectations, security procedures are reviewed as needed and periodically throughout the year by our School Safety and Security personnel. Schools are required to practice the plans they have in place multiple times per year so that both staff and students have a complete understanding of what to do should a real emergency arise.

We are also very fortunate to have a strong partnership with the Delaware County Sheriff’s Department. Through our School Resource Officer program there is a deputy presence in our schools to provide a safe and secure environment for all students and staff.

The district continually makes a strong effort to maintain a safe and secure environment to allow educational, professional, and personal growth for all members of the school district and community where diverse social, cultural, and academic values are allowed to prosper. The safety of visitors, as well as preserving personal and school property from damage or loss, are all part of the safety mission of the district.

Despite our many preventative measures, we must always remain vigilant. We encourage all parents and guardians to speak to your children to review steps that should be taken if they are confronted by strangers or hear something suspicious. Please remind them that at all times they need to be alert for suspicious individuals and to quickly contact the police, or school authorities, if they have any concerns.

As always, if you have any concerns or suggestions, please feel free to send an email or reach out to any one of our administrators.
