School personnel consistently receive awareness training on their requirements within the building's Emergency Operations Plan (EOP). Staff are trained to quickly assess an emergency medical situation, making sure it is safe for them and other students. They immediately notify first responders and administer first aid if qualified to do so. Each school is equipped with an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) to be used during extreme situations.
Upon arrival of trained first responders, district personnel support their response by coordinating with other students and the parents of the injured student. A team approach is used at all times during a response to a medical emergency.
