Digital Citizenship
In Olentangy, Digital Citizenship entails the responsible and ethical use of technology, equipping students to navigate the digital world safely, fluently, and ethically while being purposeful, resilient, curious, and kind participants in a digital environment. As a district, Olentangy Schools is committed to providing every student with learning opportunities related to digital citizenship. Throughout the school year, families and students will have opportunities to engage and explore digital citizenship concepts, which include the following:
Digital Fluency: The ability to discover, evaluate, communicate, and use information through digital technologies effectively, ethically, and efficiently.
Digital Safety: Making safe, ethical, and responsible decisions when using digital technologies.
Digital Balance and Wellness: The importance of maintaining a healthy relationship with digital technologies in the classroom and personal life.
Digital Equity and Inclusion: Affording access and addressing barriers to digital technologies, giving opportunities to all stakeholders to participate fully in the digital world.
Students are growing up in a complex world, and our role as educators is to guide them to explore and engage in their interests while providing strategies to problem-solve and manage their behaviors, emotions, and thinking. Students should engage in authentic learning, producing meaningful work while positively contributing to our community.
