The Mission of Special Olympics

The mission of Olentangy Schools Special Olympics (OSSO) is to provide year-round sports training and competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes, and the community.

GET INVOLVED

Become an ATHLETE

• In order for an athlete to be eligible for the Olentangy Schools Special Olympics program, the following requirements must be met:
  • The athlete must complete a Special Olympics Ohio Medical Release (signed by parent/guardian and physician that is good for 3 years.
  • The athlete is identified as having limitations in both general learning and adaptive skills
  • The athlete must be eight (8) years of age or older 
  • The athlete is currently enrolled in Olentangy Schools or a graduate alumnus of Olentangy Schools

Become a VOLUNTEER

• Thank you for interest in becoming a volunteer with Olentangy Schools Special Olympics.  We have opportunities to help as both a volunteer at specific events, as well as coaching various sports.
