Olentangy Schools is proud to announce that 88 students across our high schools earned the prestigious AP Capstone Diploma during the 2024–25 school year, with an additional 19 students earning the AP Seminar and Research Certificate. These awards recognize students who have demonstrated exceptional skills in research, collaboration, critical thinking, and presentation—abilities that will serve them well in college and beyond.

“To receive this distinction, students engaged in an inquiry-based learning experience that emphasized critical thinking, research, collaboration, and communication. They selected topics that were of personal interest to them, conducted research, and presented to an authentic audience,” said Dr. Michelle Blackley, Olentangy’s Chief Academic Officer. “This meaningful readiness program will serve them well beyond high school.”

This year’s AP Capstone award recipients by high school include:

• Berlin High School – 17 Diplomas, 3 Certificates
• Olentangy High School – 29 Diplomas, 2 Certificates
• Liberty High School – 13 Diplomas, 5 Certificates
• Orange High School – 29 Diplomas, 9 Certificates

The AP Capstone Diploma program, offered at all four of our high schools, is a rigorous, two-year program based on the AP Seminar and AP Research courses. To earn the diploma, students must achieve scores of 3 or higher in AP Seminar and AP Research, as well as four additional AP exams of their choosing. The AP Seminar and Research Certificate is awarded to students who earn scores of 3 or higher in AP Seminar and AP Research.

During the 2024–25 school year, more than 160,000 students in over 3,500 schools worldwide participate in AP Capstone, with approximately 27,650 students earning the AP Capstone Diploma and 12,430 earning the AP Seminar and Research Certificate. AP Seminar and AP Research courses emphasize interdisciplinary, project-based learning and evaluate students through group projects, presentations, and individual essays.
