For the second consecutive year, Olentangy Schools has received a four-star rating - the highest possible - for open and transparent government.
The recognition comes from the Ohio Auditor of State’s StaRS Rating System, a program that promotes transparency among local governments by conducting audits for compliance when responding to public records requests under Ohio’s Sunshine Law. Olentangy Schools was among more than 2,000 entities audited by the state for public records compliance and among 385 local governments to earn the highest possible four-star rating.
The “StaRS” public records system was launched in November of 2019. The ratings were created to acknowledge the accomplishments of those that are meeting Ohio’s public record and open meetings laws, and also to recognize those public bodies that exceed those legal standards by implementing a number of identified best practices.
