GFOA Certificate of Achievement
Olentangy Schools

Olentangy Schools has earned the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its Annual Comprehensive Financial Report for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2025.

The recognition marks the 25th consecutive year Olentangy Schools has received the Certificate of Achievement, the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting.

The award recognizes the District's commitment to financial transparency, accountability and clear communication with the community.

"This award represents more than a well-prepared financial report - it reflects the work of a team committed to responsible stewardship and to ensuring our financial information is accurate, accessible and understandable to the people we serve," said Olentangy Schools Treasurer Ryan Jenkins. "Our community entrusts us with significant public resources, and we take seriously our responsibility to clearly communicate how those resources are managed and used to support our students, staff and facilities."

What Is the GFOA Certificate of Achievement?

Established in 1945, GFOA's Certificate Program was created to encourage and assist state and local governments in going beyond the minimum requirements of generally accepted accounting principles.

The program promotes the preparation of annual comprehensive financial reports that demonstrate transparency and full disclosure. Individual governments that meet the program's rigorous standards are recognized with the Certificate of Achievement.

Olentangy's Annual Comprehensive Financial Report was reviewed by an impartial panel and judged to meet the high standards of the program, including demonstrating a constructive "spirit of full disclosure" to clearly communicate the District's financial story and encourage potential users and user groups to read the report.

A Continued Commitment to Transparency

Olentangy Schools manages significant public resources on behalf of its students, families and taxpayers. The District's financial reporting is an important part of its commitment to providing the community with a clear understanding of its financial position and how resources are used to support students and schools.

"Receiving this recognition for 25 consecutive years demonstrates the strong financial practices and culture of accountability that have been established at Olentangy Schools," said Olentangy Board of Education President Brandon Lester. "We are proud of Mr. Jenkins and the entire Treasurer's Department for their continued commitment to transparency and responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars."

The Annual Comprehensive Financial Report provides detailed financial information about the District and is part of Olentangy's ongoing effort to ensure its community has access to accurate and transparent financial information.
