$1.425 million will fund physical safety and security upgrades.
Olentangy Schools has been awarded $1.425 million through an Ohio Facilities Construction Commission safety grant program. These valuable funds have been secured through the combined efforts of Director of Safety, Security and Preparedness Joseph Suozzi, Director of Facilities and Business Management Jeff Gordon and Treasurer Ryan Jenkins.
On February 2, 2023, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine announced that more than 900 additional schools, a total of 945 schools, will receive state funding support for physical safety and security upgrades as part of the latest round of Ohio's K-12 School Safety Grant Program. Olentangy Schools is second only to Cleveland Municipal in total funds granted, with twenty-five of Olentangy’s school buildings awarded either $50,000 or $75,000 for increased safety and security measures.
Facilities upgrades will include continuing to secure access to buildings and coordinating with first responders on available tools needed in the event of an emergency.
