Scioto Ridge Elementary (#20), Tyler Run Elementary (#23), and Heritage Elementary (#47) placed in the top 50 in the state. Hyatts Middle School (#21) and Shanahan Middle School (#26) placed in the top 30 middle schools in the state.
“Olentangy remains focused on providing students with an exceptional learning experience, starting with our youngest learners, and continuing through middle and high school,” shared Superintendent Todd Meyer. “High schools often receive recognition because those years culminate with commencement. However, the work to facilitate maximum learning for every student starts at the elementary and middle school levels, contributing to the educational excellence and top rankings of our four high schools.”
To compile the rankings for each state, schools were assessed on students scoring proficient or above proficient in their mathematics and reading/language arts state assessments. Peachblow Crossing Elementary and Berlin Middle School are not yet eligible for these rankings.
The U.S. News’ K-12 directory lists 119,272 schools, including 96,982 public schools and 22,290 private schools. Among the 79,374 public schools with elementary and/or middle school grades, 65,759 (83%) were ranked in either the elementary or middle schools ranking. These include 5,675 schools ranked in both.
