The Olentangy Schools Board of Education announced their intent to hire Todd R. Meyer as the Superintendent of Olentangy Schools, pending board action at the Monday, May 15 meeting.

The Board of Education contracted with the ESC of Central Ohio to spearhead the process to replace Superintendent Mark T. Raiff, who announced his retirement in January 2023. They collected input through a community-wide survey that received 1,321 responses, targeted focus groups that involved 190 stakeholders, and a text message survey question that received 1,163 responses from middle and high school parents. The final candidates met with three committees for their final interviews, which included the Board of Education, district administration, school principals, and nearly 30 community members.

“I want to begin by thanking the talented candidates that expressed interest in Olentangy Schools, and the community and staff members that actively participated in this process throughout the past few months,” stated Board President Kevin G. O’Brien. “I, along with my fellow board members, was impressed with the deep candidate pool that the ESC of Central Ohio helped us develop, which made this a very competitive and worthwhile process.

“Mr. Meyer’s depth and breadth of experience coupled with his passion for Olentangy were significant factors, and he has clearly demonstrated that he is ready to lead Olentangy. I am confident that he will foster continuity of the District’s already impressive academic track record, while also introducing fresh ideas.”

Mr. Meyer currently serves as the Chief Operations Officer of Olentangy Schools, overseeing the district’s human resources department, the transportation team, and the business and facilities group that includes custodial, maintenance, food service and building management. Mr. Meyer came to Olentangy from Westerville City Schools in 2007 as the principal to open Olentangy Orange High School. While in Westerville, he served as the Executive Director of Secondary Curriculum and Instruction and opened Westerville Central High School in 2003. Mr. Meyer was an adjunct professor at Ashland University, received his bachelor’s degree from Bowling Green State University, and a masters from the University of Akron.

“I’m incredibly honored and humbled to be selected to serve as the next Superintendent for Olentangy Schools. During my 16 years in the District, I have established many positive relationships, and I look forward to building on those relationships and working collaboratively with the school board, students, staff, parents, and community to strengthen the already established culture of excellence.” shared Mr. Meyer. “Olentangy is a very special place, and I thank the Board of Education for entrusting me with the important mission of facilitating maximum learning for every student here at Olentangy. I can’t wait to get started.”

More information about the Superintendent transition will be shared following the May 15 Board meeting.
