Summary of MLK Day of Service donations for our community partners.

The Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday is an official day of service and celebrates the civil rights leader’s life and legacy. MLK Day is the only federal holiday designated as a National Day of Service to encourage all Americans to volunteer to improve their communities.

Olentangy Schools held the fourth annual MLK Day of Service on Monday, January 15 to bring together our One Olentangy to honor the life and vision of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with a donation drive for our community partners.

The event collected donations for the following community partners:​

  • Community Refugee and Immigrant Services (CRIS) – over 250 items donated, totaling approximately $2,500
  • Delaware County Diaper Bank – 2,555 diapers and 76 packages of wipes donated​
  • Delaware County Children Services – personal items donated
  • Humane Society of Delaware County – animal supplies and office items donated 
  • Lutheran Social Services (LSS) Faith Mission – six pairs of flip flops donated​
  • Neighborhood Bridges – food and personal items donated
  • Olentangy Lions Club – hats and prescription glasses donated​
  • People in Need (PIN) of Delaware County - 947 lbs. of food, totaling around $1,536.80
  • Turning Point – 370 items donated
