In July, the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) sent a memo to all member districts outlining the requirement of the option of cash transactions as a form of payment for all school-sponsored events. This change is in accordance with state law, House Bill 33, and includes activities such as: 

• athletic events; 
• plays/musicals; or 
• activities a district or school conducts, sponsors, or participates in and for which a district or school charges admission to attend. 

Olentangy Schools has always accepted cash transactions as a form of payment for athletic events, in addition to its online ticketing for athletic and non-athletic events. During the 2023-24 school year, cash sales will continue to be accepted at the admission gates for all school-sponsored athletic events and concession stands. All non-athletic events will also now accept cash payments for admission. 

In addition to state-level changes impacting ticketing processes, the Ohio Capital Conference (OCC), our Central Ohio high school athletic conference, recently voted to allow its member schools to increase admission prices of varsity athletic events to up to $10 per person for varsity events. These changes do not impact admission to non-varsity events, which will remain at $5 per person.  

All member schools of the OCC are required to follow ticket pricing policies, and effective Tuesday, August 15, 2023, ticket prices for Olentangy high school events featuring varsity competitions are now $10 per person. The price increases are necessary to support event staffing, ensure our student-athletes and athletic programs have access to equipment and supplies, and allow us to continue to deliver a high-quality fan experience to our entire Olentangy community. 

Olentangy Schools and the OCC recognize this decision impacts our entire district, and as part of its new ticketing policy, the OCC has also authorized member schools to offer varsity tickets at a 20% discount when sold online. Tickets purchased through our online, cash-less portal will remain $8, a 20% discount, for varsity athletic events. Please note that transaction and credit card processing fees still apply to all online ticket sales.  

Season passes are currently available for all four of Olentangy’s high school athletic events. Passes can be purchased online, giving students, families, and the community a chance to root on teams at home games and support the athletic programs.

In addition to online tickets and season passes, our Olentangy Rewards Card is available to all district residents ages 60 and older, and it will continue to offer free admission to school-sponsored athletic and performing arts events.
