Olentangy Schools conducted a Thought Exchange survey in late September which allowed the district to gather the pulse of parents, staff and students by asking the question, “Now that we’ve started the new school year, what is working, and in what areas do you need more support?” The Thought Exchange is intended to allow stakeholders to let the district know what they are thinking, rather than offering a set list of responses from which to select.
Examining top themes helps pull out participant priorities, underlying values and beliefs. A Thought Exchange starts each thought with a mid-range ranking of 3. As participants rank thoughts, they either move up or down on the scale. The stronger participants feel about the thought, the higher or lower the ranking moves.
