About the Board

The Olentangy Board of Education is an elected body created by the Ohio General Assembly. The Board consists of five elected, non-partisan positions. Each member is elected to a four-year term. Members are elected in alternating odd-year elections, with two members elected during one election and three members elected during the other.

Mr. King was elected to the board in November of 2009. He received a degree in architecture from Ohio University and is a founding partner of Horne and King Architects. Before his time on the board, Mr. King served on the district’s Development committee for 11 years, acting as the group’s chairman from 2000 through 2009. During his time with the committee, that group of community experts assisted with the planning and construction of 14 school buildings, two bus compounds and renovations to Olentangy High School. Mr. King also served as a volunteer with the Olentangy Liberty High School (OLHS) music boosters.

Kevin O'Brien - Board Member

Mr. O’Brien was appointed to the Board in 2010 to fill an unexpired term.  He is the Vice President of Mergers and Acquisitions for Nationwide, a Fortune 100 company which is one of the largest diversified insurance and financial services organization in the U.S.  Prior to joining Nationwide, Mr. O’Brien worked at Hartford Life and attained his Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation while working at KPMG in Springfield, MA.  He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management with an Accounting concentration from Westfield State University.  He has four daughters and lives in Westerville.

Mindy Patrick - Board Member

Mrs. Patrick was elected to the board in November of 2016.  She holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Oakland University in Rochester, MI.  Her career began in corporate finance at General Motors and then Detroit Diesel.  After leaving the automotive industry she worked in commercial and residential construction finance.  In April 2018 she joined The Delaware County Foundation as Director of Finance.  This new role allows her to further serve the community. Prior to her election Mrs. Patrick served on the District’s Cost Efficiency Committee and co-founded the Olentangy Dyslexia Network.  Mrs. Patrick and her husband, Michael, have two children and reside in Powell.

Julie Wagner Feasel - President

Ms. Wagner Feasel was appointed to the school board in 2006 to fill an unexpired term. She resides in Lewis Center with her husband John. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Saint Mary’s College in mass communications and is currently the vice president of communications with the Ohio Chamber of Commerce. Prior to joining the board, she volunteered extensively in the district including as president of the Olentangy Athletic Boosters, member of the Citizen’s Advisory Committee, member and later co-chair of the Redistricting Committee and as chair of a levy/bond campaign. She is currently serving her third overall term, this being her second full-term.

Dr. LaKesha Wyse - Board Member

Dr. Wyse was elected to the board in November of 2019.  She resides in Lewis Center with her husband Joe and their three children.  She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Mount Carmel College of Nursing, a Master’s of Science in Nursing from the University of Phoenix, and a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Duquesne University.  Dr. Wyse is an Assistant Dean of Faculty for Chamberlain University’s Doctor of Nursing Practice program.  She is an Olentangy Dyslexia Network board member.
