COVID-19 DATA DASHBOARD

Olentangy Schools is committed to providing accurate and transparent information regarding COVID-19 related to the school environment while also maintaining privacy and confidentiality for our students and staff.  The data below is provided by the Delaware General Health District (DGHD) and represents the most accurate count of positive and probable COVID-19 cases among district staff and students as confirmed and reported to the district by all applicable county and state health department agencies.  Olentangy Schools will report both active and probable COVID-19 cases within the Olentangy community on this webpage and  will notify parents and staff of both active and probable COVID-19 cases in our school and classroom-level communication.

Cases are classified as Probable or Confirmed by the DGHD using the following criteria:

Probable:

• Meets clinical criteria AND epidemiologic linkage with no confirmatory laboratory testing performed for SARS-CoV-2; OR

• Meets presumptive laboratory evidence AND either clinical criteria OR epidemiologic linkage; OR

 • Meets vital records criteria with no confirmatory laboratory evidence for SARS-CoV2.

Confirmed:

 • Meets confirmatory laboratory evidence. NOTE: Asymptomatic infections are reportable as confirmed cases.

The district will notify parents and staff of both active and probable COVID-19 cases in our school and classroom-level communication.

Olentangy Schools publishes active and probable COVID-19 cases every Friday in order to provide the most accurate and up-to-date COVID-19 data on the day it is available.  The Ohio Department of Health publishes case numbers to its dashboard every Thursday, with information reported as of the previous Sunday.  Olentangy Schools is not responsible for the timing of when the Delaware General Health District’s data is reported and posted on the Ohio Department of Health’s dashboard.

COVID-19 Notification Process

COVID-19 FAQ

KEY COVID-19 TERMS

Active Case: An active COVID-19 case is an individual that has been confirmed as testing positive for COVID-19 by the Delaware General Health District. An active case also includes an individual who is still in isolation or still contagious, and someone who is epidemiologically linked to a confirmed case and showing symptoms.

Confirmed Case: Report of person with COVID-19 and meeting confirmatory laboratory testing.

Case Contact: Someone who was within six feet of an infected person for at least 15 minutes starting from two days before illness onset OR someone who is within six feet for any amount of time and performing strenuous activity.

Exposure: Having come into contact with a case of a particular health problem.

Incubation Period: Period of time between exposure to an infection and onset of symptoms.

Isolation: The separation of a person reasonably believed to be infected with a communicable disease and potentially infectious from those who are not infected to prevent spread of the disease. Isolation for public health purposes may be voluntary or compelled by federal, state, or local public health order.

Probable Case: Report of person meeting clinical AND epidemiologic evidence of COVID-19 but without confirmatory laboratory evidence.

Quarantine: The separation of a person reasonably believed to have been exposed to a communicable disease but not yet symptomatic from others who have not been so exposed to prevent the possible spread of the disease. Quarantines may be voluntary or compelled by federal, state, or local public health order.

Information on the Quarantine Decision Process

  • If a student reports to the school clinic with COVID-like symptoms, Olentangy will send them home and encourage them to stay home until no symptoms are present.
  • In the event there is a positive COVID-19 case, the Delaware General Health District will hold case contact interviews.
  • The DGHD determines if a case contact must quarantine, and the length of quarantine.
  • The Delaware General Health District communicates all quarantines and timelines.
  • If the individual is on an athletic team or extra-curricular, depending on the number of cases or number of people exposed, a team or group will be required to quarantine.
  • If an athletic team is told to quarantine, the Athletic Director will send a letter to families through Final Forms with an estimated quarantine end dates for the team.
