If a child goes to the nurse for an injury or illness, is the school required to contact the child’s parents/guardians to let them know?

Olentangy cares about its students so the first priority is always on the child.  If a student is truly ill or sustained an injury, then absolutely a parent is contacted.  However, sometimes students simply need a hug and are able to return to normal activity.  In those cases, parents may be contacted if the clinic staff feels it is appropriate.  However, it is not a requirement.  No matter what the situation, the clinic staff makes decisions based upon what they feel is best for the student and helping them return to the classroom.
