The WCES gymnasium floor was damaged during a process used to clean the walls of the gymnasium. While insurance covered the majority of the cost, the district did have to pay a $5,000 deductible. Cleaning procedures have been adjusted to prevent any future damage to facilities.

Can you provide the school hours for the kindergarten program for the 2012-13 school year?
Currently most of Olentangy’s elementary schools operate from 9:05 a.m. until 3:45 p.m. The exceptions are Alum Creek, Indian Springs, Oak Creek and Scioto Ridge, which begin at 8:50 a.m. and end at 3:30 p.m. It is possible that these times may change slightly by the 2012-13 school year because Olentangy carefully examines all school times each year to ensure the most efficient transportation schedule.
Are there plans for a fourth high school on the east side of the district?
Under the latest enrollment projections and ten-year master facilities plan that was approved by the Board of Education in November 2009, a fourth high school may be needed during the 2015-16 school year. However, the district is looking at options that may reduce or delay the need for this school. This process is known as Project 2020 and is at the very early stages of conception. It involves both administrators and the community members serving on various district committees looking at future building needs as well as emerging technologies to see if there are other options that would allow the district to offer a high quality learning experience while also utilizing less physical space. There are many questions that will be explored through this project and the district will update the community as this process moves forward.
