Pupil Services Department

Gifted Education Department

Our district works to meet the needs of children who are identified as gifted in the areas of superior cognitive ability, specific academic ability, creative thinking ability and the visual and performing arts. Services are provided by specially trained teachers in all 12 elementary schools and four middle schools. Classroom teachers have received high quality professional development to present challenging experiences in that setting. High school options, including honors classes, advanced placement classes, concurrent enrollment in college courses and mentorships are also available to provide challenges for students.

Javits Training Grant

Olentangy is committed to providing on-going professional development to our teachers, administrators, guidance counselors and school psychologists on meeting the needs of our gifted students. Toward this goal, we have scheduled and received training to provide the Javits Gifted Education modules for our Olentangy Local Schools’ staff members. These modules were designed by recognized experts in the field of gifted education and provided for those trained through the Ohio Department of Education. During the 2008-09 school year, Olentangy Local Schools trained the following professionals as facilitators for this training.
