Meet the School Nurses

J. Carnevale

Judy Carnevale, RN, BSN, MEd.

Judy completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing at Otterbein College, her School Nurse Certification program from The Ohio State University, and her Master's degree from the University of Dayton. Judy is a member of the Central Ohio Association of School Nurses and Sigma Theta Tau Honorary Nursing society. Judy is affiliated with Nationwide Children's Hospital on a contingent basis. Judy is married and has one son who graduated from Olentangy Liberty High School.

Brenda's previous nursing experiences were hospital-based in dialysis, oral surgery, and orthopedics. Brenda received a Bachelors degree in Science from the Pennsylvania State University and an Associate Degree in Nursing from Youngstown State. She received her School Nurse Licensure from Ohio State and her Master's Degree in Human Development Services from the University of Dayton.

J. Edwards

Prior to school nursing, Ms. Edwards worked in home care, hospital, physician's office and nursing home settings. Ms. Edwards is a member of the Central Ohio Association of School Nurses. Ms. Edwards received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Ohio University, an Associate Degree in Nursing from Hocking Technical College, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master of Arts in Health Education from The Ohio State University.

Kara Haney, RN, BSN, MSN

Kara completed her Bachelor of Science and Master's degree in Nursing at The Ohio State University. She is a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner through The Pediatric Nurse Certification Board. Family time is her favorite hobby.

C. Medeiros

Carlene Medeiros, RN, BSN, MEd

Prior to coming to Olentangy Carlene was a school nurse with Columbus Public Schools. Carlene received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing and completed her Ohio Department of Education School Nurse coursework through The Ohio State University. Carlene earned her Master of Education through University of Dayton and is currently enrolled in graduate school at Ohio State. She is a member of Central Ohio Association of School Nurses. Carlene has two children, one who graduated from Olentangy High School and one from Olentangy LIberty High School.

J. Mewhorter

Jan Mewhorter, RN, BSN

Jan Mewhorter graduated from The Ohio State University with her BSN in Nursing. Jan worked at Riverside Methodist Hospital for 8 years with experience in the ICU, renal/urology unit and general surgery floors. She started a support group for women with breast cancer and was on the original planning committee for Race for the Cure in Columbus. She has worked at The Delaware General Health District as a Public Health Nurse and has employed by Olentangy Local Schools for the last 5 years. She has been on the board for the American Cancer Society, People In Need and American Heart Association. Jan is currently working on her Master's degree at The Ohio State University.

Jane has a special interest in child and adolescent mental health. Jane graduated from Christ Hospital School of Nursing with her diploma degree in Nursing and from Ohio University with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She completed her Master's degree in School Guidance Counseling form the University of Dayton. Jane resides in Lewis Center and has two grown children who both graduated from Olentangy High School.
