About Olentangy Food Services

Providing Meals in a Safe, Sanitary, and Cost Effective Manner

Our mission is to facilitate maximum learning for every student by providing meals that are nutritious, tasty, and appealing to students and staff, in a safe, sanitary, and cost effective manner.
  • The cafeteria manager in each building is nationally certified through completion of the ServSafe Food Protection Course.
  • All food service employees attend an annual mandatory in-service in which various food safety and sanitation topics are covered.
  • All eligible cafeterias (new schools were not eligible) received the 2003-2004 Clean Restaurant Award from the Delaware General Health District.
  • All cafeterias routinely receive a score of 95% or better on semi-annual inspections by the Delaware General Health District.
  • We participate in the Metropolitan Educational Council (MEC) Food Program to maximize the value of products purchased through the competitive bidding process.
  • We continually attempt to realign staffing to accommodate the ever-fluctuating enrollment numbers due to new schools and/or redistricting.
  • The number of meals served per labor hour at Olentangy are consistently higher than the state average.
  • We have implemented the debit card system district-wide, which has increased productivity, improved accountability, and helped to increase participation by simplifying the process of prepaying for meals.
