Benchmark 1: Achievement at or above anticipated levels based on measured ability –

Percentage of students achieving at or above their anticipated level of achievement, as measured by nationally standardized tests, will increase overall in a majority of areas and grades from three-year averages.

  • Hyatts opened in 2007-08, therefore only one year of data is reported. MET/NOT MET is based on comparison to district averages.
  • MET– 3 of 6 subjects increased from three-year average.
Benchmark 2: Gain a year or more in achievement for every year of instruction –

Student achievement in each grade level and subject will demonstrate at least a year’s worth of learning for a year’s worth of instruction, as measured by the Ohio growth model.

  • MET – Overall growth rating is above expected growth.
Benchmark 3: Meet state and national standards –

75% or more of students taking Ohio tests will score proficient and above.

  • NOT MET – Did not meet state benchmark for 8th grade Social Studies.

Meet Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) goal for each testing subgroups.

  • MET – Met AYP for all subgroups.

State Performance Index will increase from 2006-2007 level.

Percent proficient will increase in a majority of Ohio tests from 2006-07 levels and will surpass similar district average in a majority of subjects tested.

Benchmark 5: Increased percentages of students at advanced levels –

Percentage of students scoring at an advanced proficient level will increase in a majority of subjects from 2007 levels.

  • NOT MET – 1 of 6 subjects increased from the previous year.

Highlights:

  • Sixth, seventh and eighth grade teachers facilitated more than a year's growth in math.
  • Performance Index ranking places OHMS in the top 14.9 percent of all middle schools in the state.
  • Over 23 percent of eighth grade students scored advanced on the reading achievement test.
  • OHMS is rated Excellent and met AYP for all subgroups.
