Summary of Results – Annual Benchmark Progress:

MET indicates that the benchmark was met at the overall district level or in a majority of indicators where there are multiple areas listed in the benchmark. The legend below will be used throughout the report to let you know, at a glance, whether or not the benchmark has been met.

Benchmark 1: Achievement at or above anticipated levels based on measured ability

Percentage of students achieving at or above their anticipated level of achievement, as measured by nationally standardized tests, will increase overall in majority of areas and grades from three-year averages.

  • NOT MET– 6 of 20 subjects increased from the three-year average.
Benchmark 2: Gain a year or more in achievement for every year of instruction

Student achievement in each grade level and subject will demonstrate at least a year’s worth of learning for a year’s worth of instruction, as measured by the Ohio growth model.

  • MET – Overall growth rating is above a year's worth of growth.
Benchmark 3: Meet state and national standards

75% or more of students taking Ohio tests will score proficient and above.

  • NOT MET – Missed 8th grade Social Studies.

Meet Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) goal for each testing subgroups.

  • MET – Met AYP for all subgroups.

State Performance Index will increase from 2006-2007 level.

  • MET – Performance Index score increased from 102.8 to 103.5.
Benchmark 4: Top of state and nation

Percent proficient will increase in a majority of Ohio tests from 2006-07 levels and will surpass similar district average in a majority of subjects tested.

  • MET – 15 of 28 subjects increased from previous year.
  • NOT MET – 11 of 28 surpassed similar district average.

State Performance Index Ranking will increase from 2006-07 level.

  • MET – Performance Index ranking increased from top 12.0% to the top 11.4% in the state.
Benchmark 5: Increased percentages of students at advanced levels

Percentage of students scoring at an advanced proficient level will increase in a majority of subjects from 2007 levels.

  • MET – 19 of 23 subjects improved from last year.

Percentage of students participating in Advanced Placement (AP) courses will increase from three-year averages.

  • MET – Advanced Placement participation is above the three-year average.

Percent scoring 3, 4, or 5 in Advanced Placement will increase from three-year averages.

  • MET – Percentage of students scoring a 3 or higher increased from the three-year average.
Benchmark 6: High and increasing ratings in survey responses regarding the mission and vision

Community survey developed in 2005 will be administered to random sample parent population and will establish baselines for future surveying. Results will be compared to 2005 community survey baseline results to set benchmarks. Survey will be re-administered every other year – percentage of respondents giving the two highest ratings will increase in majority of questions.

  • MET – Majority of respondents giving the district the two highest ratings increased.
Benchmark 7: Graduates prepared for educational / vocational pursuit of their choice –

Percentage of seniors giving top two ratings on the Senior Exit Survey will increase from three-year averages, or remain 90% or above.

  • MET – majority of questions show an increase in percentage of seniors giving top two ratings

Percentage of students meeting all four of the ACT College Readiness Benchmarks will increase from previous year or remain at 50%.

  • MET – Percentage increased from 34 percent to 39 percent, meeting all four benchmarks.

Ohio Board of Regents college data will show increase in percentage of students taking complete high school core curriculum and will show decrease in percentage of students taking remedial course work in college.

  • Partial MET – Percentage taking complete core decreased from 47 percent to 34 percent, but percentage needing remediation decreased from 23% to 19%.

ACT mean scores will increase from the previous year or remain at 25.

  • MET – ACT mean scores increased from previous year.

Highlights:

  • OLSD was rated Excellent with Distinction by the ODE on the Local Report Card.
  • OLSD met AYP for all subgroups.
  • Our educators are facilitating more than a year's worth of growth in a year's time.
  • Performance Index increased to all-time high of 103.5, placing us in the top 11.4% of districts in the state.
