myOlentangy Parent Portal Update

Just prior to the start of this school year, Olentangy launched ”myOlentangy“ which is an online, secure, password-driven portal by which parents can view information on their child.

At this initial stage, myOlentangy was launched to the parents of elementary students only and contained bus stop and class assignments. For most parents, myOlentangy was accessible without problems. For others, our Technology staff were available and several have been working around the clock to ensure a smooth release for parents.

Traffic on the site after the launch of myOlentangy was very high and the site has been heavily used since.

Over the next school year, access to myOlentangy will extend to our middle and high school parents and we intend to add features for parents throughout this year and in the future.

Parents should remember to retain their family password for continued use as we continue to improve upon and extend the use of the portal.

I applaud our district’s Technology Department for their hard work not only on the development of this but in their dedication to ensuring that the initial release of myOlentangy runs well for our parents.

Ribbon Cuttings, New Buildings

Olentangy welcomed three new schools on Sunday, August 19. The celebrations were well attended by our parents and community.

In particular, we had tremendous participation and attendance by our senior citizens both at the Hyatts and Johnnycake Corners openings.

At the Hyatts opening, the alumni of the “old” Hyatts school were among our honored guests and they were as ecstatic to be there as we were to have them there.

At Johnnycake Corners, numerous longtime families from the area were there, and in particular Bea Cleveland who is John Ryant’s niece was there to ring the donated bell.

Elementary Open Houses

Olentangy’s parents were very pleased this year with the return of Open House. Davis thanked the district’s teachers with working with the district to bring these important events back to our families.
