The Olentangy Local Schools Board of Education has appointed Roger Bartz as its newest member.
Bartz was appointed to the position by a unanimous 3-0 vote during the Board’s July 9 meeting. He was then immediately sworn in to fill the seat vacated June 18 by former Board member Stacy Dunbar. Bartz will complete the remaining 1.5 years of Dunbar’s unexpired term. He was selected from among 41 applicants for the seat. The Board had narrowed the applicant lists to three finalists before appointing Bartz.
A 15-year resident of the district, Bartz has had a strong history of supporting Olentangy through many volunteer efforts, including as the president of the Olentangy Orange Athletic Boosters. He also served as the co-chair of a committee to raise donations to fund the installation of a turf field at Orange High School.
Bartz is a market director/senior client service manager for TRC Environmental Corporation, a national engineering, consulting and construction management firm. Prior to joining TRC, he served as a senior client service manager for Sage Environmental Consulting, LLC. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Capital University in 1983.
“Mr. Bartz’ extensive business and consulting background will be a great asset,” said Board of Education President Kevin O’Brien, who added that the district received an outstanding pool of applicants.
Board Vice President Julie Wagner Feasel thanked the candidates for their commitment and passion for the Olentangy Local Schools and encouraged them to remain involved.
Bartz and his wife, Sherry, reside in Lewis Center and have two children.
