An Olentangy Orange Middle School (OOMS) student’s essay about her teacher has been selected as the winning entry of the “Barnes & Noble My Favorite Teacher Contest.”

The essay about OOMS Family and Consumer Sciences Teacher Julianna Harper was chosen from among 50 entries submitted to the local Barnes & Noble store. It was penned by OOMS student Jane K., who wrote about how Harper has influenced her life and why she admires her.

Entries were judged on the nature of the teacher’s qualities and the sincerity of the student’s appreciation and skill of writing. Jane and Harper will be recognized at 7 p.m. April 23 during a special ceremony at the Barnes & Noble store at 1560 Polaris Parkway. Harper’s name will also be entered into a regional competition where she will have the chance to win a cash prize.
