Shanahan Middle School students have been getting into the spirit of the Winter Olympics thanks to their Physical Education (P.E.) and Health classes. During the month of February, students in P.E. and Health were placed on teams with uniforms representing different countries. The teams competed in traditional Winter Olympic sports including curling, biathlon and (floor) hockey. Medals were awarded daily and an overall medal count was recorded.
The students also did research on their respective countries and presented facts about the countries to their classmates as part of an academic Olympic event. The students enjoyed competing against each other while also displaying sportsmanship and learning about different countries and the Winter Olympics.
