Olentangy Employees Enjoy Kick Off for the New School Year

All Olentangy employees were invited to Convocation and Vendor Fair, the annual kick off celebration for the new school year on Wednesday, August 14.  The event was held at Olentangy Liberty High School and was a motivational start to the new school year for all employees.  Superintendent Dr. Wade Lucas presented an overview of the district for his audience, congratulating all for recent successes while looking ahead to new challenges.  Lucas also announced a tie for the District Teacher of the Year for 2012-13.   The teacher winners were Lindsey Carle, of Freedom Trail and Scioto Ridge Elementary, and Lauren Hausman from Cheshire Elementary.  A non-teaching employee is also routinely chosen as District Employee of the Year, and the 2012-13 winner was a bittersweet selection.  Judy Muntean, former secretary at Hyatts MIddle School, received the honor posthumously. She passed away in late 2012.  Judy’s family was on hand to receive her award.

A vendor fair was also held in conjunction with the convocation.  Area businesses set up tables in the gymnasium and offered one-stop shopping for the Olentangy employees.  The fair is a way that Olentangy employees can partner with the community and a means to say “thank you for your support.”
