The Olentangy Local School District is excited to present Children and Diversity, a community forum featuring Olentangy Superintendent Wade Lucas, Ed.D., and renowned professor, researcher and author Dr. Melanie Killen. The event will be held on Thursday, October 4 from 7 until 8:30 p.m. at Olentangy Liberty High School, 3584 Home Road in Powell.
Dr. Killen is a University of Maryland professor who supervises the school’s Social and Moral Development Laboratory and collaborated with CNN for a special called “Kids on Race: The Hidden Picture,” which aired in April of 2012. During the community forum, Dr. Killen will share lessons learned during her decades of research and explore how children’s perceptions can lead to biases at young ages. She’ll also examine the preventive role adults can play in this process. Audience members will also have the opportunity to submit questions to Dr. Killen and Dr. Lucas.
Please join Olentangy for this important event!
