More than 98 percent of Olentangy’s third-grade students passed state reading tests administered during the spring of the 2013-2014 school year.
Of the 1,547 Olentangy third-graders who took the Ohio Achievement Assessment tests (OAA), more than 87 percent earned accelerated or advanced levels in reading, according to preliminary OAA test results released June 17 by the Ohio Department of Education.
All but 27 of the students met the state requirement for promotion to the fourth grade under the state’s Third Grade Reading Guarantee. Nearly all of those 27 students have achieved a passing score on state-approved alternative assessments, or have otherwise met Third Grade Reading Guarantee exemption requirements. Under Ohio’s Third-Grade Reading Guarantee, students must pass the test to move on to the fourth grade.
