ISES Students Learn History the Hands-On Way

First-grade classes at Indian Springs Elementary School (ISES) invited parent and grandparent volunteers to help students experience a “hands-on” past as they studied a history unit at the school. ┬áVisitors brought in old games, toys, household items and other items that were used in the past for demonstrations and some hands-on fun. ┬áTeacher Sondra Petrelle had the entire first grade involved by moving them through stations of interest, similar to a COSI exhibit. ┬áVolunteers demonstrated the items, including an old-style washboard and a 1958 Packard automobile.
